New Jersey Defensive Driving Course

Driving Logic’s online New Jersey Defensive Driving Course is coming soon. New Jersey’s defensive driving course is voluntary. Completing a State-approved course may remove two points from your license, and you may also qualify for an insurance rate reduction.

What Is the New Jersey Defensive Driving Course?

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) lists State-approved classroom and online defensive driving course providers. When you finish, the provider notifies NJMVC with proof of completion within 7 to 10 business days. NJMVC does not accept certificates from the driver.

Point Reduction Rules

  • Two points: may be removed from the points you currently have on your license
  • Once every 5 years: you may receive the two-point reduction only once in that time
  • Points must be on your record: the reduction applies only if you have points when you complete the course
  • Insurance: you may qualify for a rate reduction; contact your insurance agent
